Cabinet Viewer failes to open CABs

When using InstallShield Cabinet File Viewer to open a previously created InstallShield Smart Device CAB file, I get the dialog:

Error Number: 130
Description: Could not open HDR File:


Steps:
[LIST=1]
  • File -> Open
  • Select "InstallShield Cab files (*.cab)" in file type dropdown
  • Select the CAB file to open in the file browser
  • Click open


    Even though I select CAB files from the file type (defaults to HDR files) the error message specifically states HDR files.

    I am using Version 16.0 that is included with InstallShield 2010 Premier SP1 on Windows 7 x64.

    I beleive the CAB file viewer only works with setups that are built from InstallScript projects. Try opening the CAB file using WinZIP.
