Bad Setup or DLL Corruption?
I’m not sure how this came about but in existing or new InstallScript MSI projects when on the Installation Designer tab, when selecting User Interface | Dialogs, I am unable to edit any dialog. Is this a setting I could have inadvertently tuned on/off?
I’m working on an enhancement to an existing InstallScript MSI project. I noticed the editing problem when after a build when I run the installer to test it two forms give me “In function 'SdStartCopy': Unable to create dialog.” (this also happens for SdLicense2). Since I was making edits around the SdStartCopy section of my setup.rul file I remove my changes and rebuild project. But I get the same results. The funny thing is that now if I create a new project, add 1 file to it’s contents and build and run it, just after the Preparing to Install dialog the project just dies. No error or warning message, it just closes.
Any ideas on this one? Could it be time to uninstall and re-install?

Sounds like it could be that InstallShield got corrupted somehow. I just dont see them creating a setting that would cause your new projects to fail to install. Have you tried running a repair on it first? If that doesnt work try un/reinstall. Its a pain but will probably be quicker than trying to fix by hand.

Hi mjlarezzo
After doing a number of code and setup changes and getting no where I just had to fall back 10 yards and punt. But you’re suggesting to go run “repair” in Add/Remove Programs worked.
Thanks.
