Summary

Information on the the LaunchAnywhere Error: Could not find a valid Java virtual machine to load

Symptoms

When running an installer, the following LaunchAnywhere error may be displayed during launch time:
Could not find a valid Java virtual machine to load error.
You may need to reinstall a supported Java virtual machine.

Cause

This error can occur when:
  1. The configured JVM search settings for the installer fail to find a valid VM on the target machine.
  2. There is an issue with the JVM that is either bundled with the installer or with the JVM installed on the target machine.

Resolution

  1. Make sure a valid JVM is installed on the target machine that you are running the installer on. A JVM is determined to be valid by the JVM search settings configured for the installer. Please refer to the articles below for more information on the JVM search setting:
  2. Make sure the JVM being used by the installer is not corrupted. If the JVM being used is installed on the machine, try reinstalling the JVM or installing a newer version of Java on the target machine if applicable. If the JVM is being bundled with the installer, make sure you are using a valid VM pack. This error can result from an improperly created VM pack. Please refer to the articles below for more information on creating VM packs:
