Summary

This article provides steps to resolve the error: "This copy of InstallAnywhere could not be registered using the node locked licensing file specified" due to an address change or license move.

Symptoms

This copy of InstallAnywhere could not be registered using the node locked licensing file specified. Please check if the license file specified at <PATH TO LICENSE.LIC> is a valid license file for this node.

Cause

• The hard drive or MAC Address has changed since the license was registered.
• The InstallAnywhere license has been moved to a different machine.

Resolution

Try returning the current license file in the Product and License Center, and then generate a new license file including the correct machine information.

Return the license in the Product and License Center:

1. Log into the Product and License Center.
2. If applicable, click the InstallAnywhere hyperlink from the Product and License Center Product List.
3. From the Product Information page, click the Licenses hyperlink for the applicable InstallAnywhere product version.
4. Select the Return checkbox for the applicable InstallAnywhere license.
5. Click the Return button.

Note: If you or someone in your organization has already returned a license for the entitlement that is associated with the selected license, the Return button is not displayed. In this case, please contact support with the Serial Number and Host ID of the license that you wish to return.
Once the license has been successfully returned, generate a new license file including the correct machine information:

1. From the Product Information page, click the Licenses hyperlink for the applicable InstallAnywhere product version.
2. Select the checkbox for the applicable InstallAnywhere license.
3. Click the Generate button.
4. Enter the applicable Ethernet/MAC Address.
5. Click the Generate button.
6. Click the Save All button and save the license.lic file.
