what will be the location of the registry file

Hi all,
I want to ask one question about the registry file .com.zerog.registry.xml.
In the user guide it says such thing for the UNIX-based platform:
"If logged in as root, the global registry is located in /var.
If logged in as a user, it is located in the user's home directory."
However, I login Solaris 10 with one account not "root" but it belongs to root group, the installer will create the registry file under /var.
What's wrong? I think it should be created under user's home directory.
Anyone can help me?

I think that when they say root they mean root or equivalent (any user with id 0).
