Reducing installer size

Are there any tricks to reducing installer size?

I've got an application jar that is only about 400K. When I make an install for it, it bloats up to about 4M.

Heh, why don't you just ship the application jar by itself? I know it look a 10 fold increase in size, but I assume from the size you don't bundle any VM. IA needs to put some code (for self uncompressing, for the pre-install wizard etc.).
