Error -5001:0x8000ffff
Is anyone familiar with error -5001: 0x8000FFFF. The error information is as follows:
Error Code: - 5001:0x8000ffff
Error Information
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.DLL.CPP (579)
My customer is getting this error when trying to install our product, but I can't find any information on this error. The only close information has a either a different hex number, or has to do with uninstall.
Thanks,

Can't you get more information from your customer (i.e. screenshot)? What was your installer doing at the moment the error occurred?

Customer is running Windows Server 2003 (SP2) w/ ISA Server 2004 (sp3). He goes through the UI and File copy portions of the installation. The system reboots at the end of the installation, and after logging in, he recieves the error -5001. I'm still in the process of the getting a screen shot, but nothing is shown on the screen except for the error message box. The details from the error box are:
Error Code: -5001 : 0x8000ffff
Error Information:
>SetupNew\setup.cpp (496)
PAPP:DynaComm iseries ifilter
PVENDOR:Futuresoft, Inc. (www.futuresoft.com)
PGUID:a3a87c00-a5a2-11d4-be26-00a024285e8d
$14.0.0.162
@Windows Server2003 Service Pack 2 (3790) IE 7.0.6000.16791
I added some code to the log data during the OnRebooted function by writing to a file, but nothing was written out to the log file. It appears that something is happening when that is causing either the script engine to fail to load, or causing it to fail to execute the on OnRebooted Event.

According to this: http://support.xara.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=pdfexport&kbarticleid=2539 (or Google cached copy:

Geez, I need to get my eyes checked. I could have sworn that I posted this in the Installshield 2008 forum. 😞 I'll repost in the correct forum.
