Our product installer does a version check to make sure that nothing gets installed unless the OS is Windows 2003 SP1. I would like to install the product internally on newer versions of Windows test the compatibility. Unfortunately the person who was in charge of installer code base is no longer with us.
Is there a way ( like a registry cheat or something) to disable the version check without having to meddle with the installer code?
AFAIK, IA use Java to determine the OS name & version (in case of Windows); (i.e. it uses a variable returned by Java for the OS name) I think that maybe if you set this variable right before launching the installer this might do the trick. But anyway even if the person in charge has left you must have the original project and the ability to rebuild it, right?
Yes I can rebuild the installer, but I will need to acquire InstallAnywhere skills. Since that is going to take some time, I was looking for a shortcut...
