Are animated GIFs supported as a billboard?
Is an animated gif supported as a billboard image? We are seeing one of our billboards getting distorted on WinXP. A 1-pixel wide vertical line is removed from the image. Unfortunately, it occurs on the "n" in the word "change" making it read "charge." The image is 380x270 and displays fine on Win7. Has anyone else seen this?

I got a reply from IA Support confirming that animated GIFs are a supported format for billboard images.

p.s. The missing vertical stripes, however, is still an issue.

Follow-up... Got this reply on an incident report regarding IA's recommended billboard image size:
... The InstallAnywhere IDE does mention that the maximum and preferred size of the image file should be 380 x 270 pixels. However, our documentation (http://helpnet.flexerasoftware.com/robo/projects/installanywhere2010/helplibrary/ia_ref_ad_installer_ui_billboards.htm) also mentions in the note that, unfortunately, "...Installer dimensional may change slightly by platform to better display text and different fonts." So we cannot guarantee that the image dimensions will not change when the image is displayed by the installer. But I tried to optimize the image display quality for you, ... [the] new image size is 370 x 263 pixels.

oops. Hit the submit button to soon.
The bottom line is: The recommended billboard image size is... whatever works for you. Start with the 380 x 270 and cut it down bit by bit until it displays properly on all platforms.
