VM_UUID Detection Mechanism in Azure
VM_UUID Detection Mechanism in Azure
Differences between the VM_UUID value determined by our cloud detection mechanism, and the UUID value obtained by examining the system /sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid file.

This is due to the difference in byte order for the value determined by cloud platform detection and the value in the file /sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid
As can be seen, the values are equivalent when comparing the byte order of values from different FNP versions
The summary is that VMUUID values extracted in FNP versions since version FNP11.18.3 are consistent with values extracted in previous versions that had Azure cloud detection capability.
The latest UUID detection is based cloud provider instance metadata service that hold record of unique UUID value for each instance running.
