Invalid hostid on SERVER line using VM_UUID V11.16.2
Hi,
One of our customer got the following error from time to time (we replaced the real daemon name for visibility:
0:54:53 (lmgrd) TIMESTAMP 12/5/2020
1:09:56 (daemon) TIMESTAMP 12/5/2020
1:32:10 (daemon) Wrong hostid on SERVER line for license file:
1:32:10 (daemon) E:\Licenseserver\Lizenzfiles\LicDaemonlic
1:32:10 (daemon) SERVER line says VM_UUID=CF002342-664B-22BC-02A4-1902738928B6, hostid is VM_UUID=CF002342-664B-22BC-02A4-1902738928B6
1:32:10 (daemon) Invalid hostid on SERVER line
...
...
1:35:11 (daemon) EXITING DUE TO SIGNAL 25 Exit reason 2
1:35:11 (lmgrd) daemon exited with status 25 (Invalid host)
1:35:11 (lmgrd) Please correct problem and restart daemons
6:54:53 (lmgrd) TIMESTAMP 12/5/2020
As you can see, the server line hostid and the hostid "read" are exactly the same !
What is the problem/error ?

Hi,
We have the same issue on some customers, with VM on windows server (2012R2 or 2019 standard).
Is it also on windows?
Using a vendor daemon x64 or x86 ?

Hi, @erb_kappaeng Yes, we are seeing this issue on VM irrespective of platform. You can check the workaround we have shared in this post https://community.flexera.com/t5/FlexNet-Publisher-Forum/License-Server-keeps-exiting-saying-hostid-is-invalid/m-p/216240/highlight/true#M2118
If still, you have an issue then please raise a support case.

Yes I tested the workaround using a VDH using VM_UUID (lc_hostid(lm_job, VM_UUID, buf) )
but the issue is till there.
But we have more information, thanks to added log info after call the lc_hostid in the vendor daemon, time to time (every 4 / 5 hours)

Fine,
Just an idea, could it be the FNPLicensingService does not return the uuid to the vendor daemon from time to time ?

@erb_kappaeng Thanks for your all information and input, as per the error in the logs "Invalid hostid on SERVER line" that is what is happening I think as per your update (lc_hostid(lm_job, VM_UUID, buf) return a empty buf (the next call of the function returns the right value)) due to that the issue happening, I think, the point will be shared to our team for further investigation in this direction as well.

Just a last update
Take a look at the case 02120677, the update of 02 December 2021 , it contains the detailed log (with the value of VM_UUID) before/during and after the problem.
