Dear Flexlm Support,
recent Ubuntu systems (>= 20.04) include a default /etc/hosts entry
next to "127.0.0.1 localhost" which looks like
127.0.1.1 <hostname1> <hostname2>
and, according to a forum, serves as an address for the local DNS cache.
In any case, there could be severe malfunction of Ubuntu when commenting
out this line.
However, with this entry in place, flexlm is confused because it
knows it should ignore "127.0.0.1", but not "127.0.1.1".:
$ lmutil_versions/Linux$ ./lmutil_11.13.1.2 lmhostid INTERNET
lmutil_11.13.1 - Copyright (c) 1989-2015 Flexera Software LLC. All Rights Reserved.
The FlexNet host ID of this machine is "INTERNET=127.0.1.1"
The same is true for other versions of flexlm e.g. version 11.19.3. Please note that all
127.*.*.* addresses are reserved for localhost addresses, so Ubuntu
is correct in this case. Debian is also affected.
Many Thanks and Best Regards,
Felix and Clemens

Hi @ClemensAugustT Even if you add real IP and hostname and domain name in the hosts file the output is the same from FNP then this could be a valid Enhancement if the ifconfig is giving the right IP of the system. Please raise a support case so that we can test this further and report to fix it.

Dear mrathinam
it is difficult to navigate through all the different support pages. How do I raise a support case. I also would like to delegate this to one of my co-workers. How do I give him access to our subscription.
Best Regards
Clemens
