Reasons for serial Number not being displayed in the drop down menu could be

1. Entitlement tied to the serial number might be in deactivated state.
2. License may not be associated with the serial number being searched for in the drop down.

Solution

Change the Entitlement to activated state and associate a valid license with the serial number.
