What is the schedule for new feature updates in the Production Copy Service?
The Production Copy Service receives code updates on the same schedule as UAT.
What is the schedule for production data refresh?
The Production Copy Service data is refreshed at predetermined dates prior to the regularly scheduled quarterly refresh of UAT. Refresh dates are published as part of the latest news about UAT updates and service pack releases. Production Copy Service data is refreshed on a fixed global schedule for all customers who use the service.
Can I request an out-of-schedule refresh of my production data?
No. The Production Copy Service refresh is based on a fixed global schedule for all customers who use the service.
Will Production Copy Service data created for testing purposes persist after a data refresh? For example, if a customer creates entities (such as entitlements, new license models, etc.) in the Production Copy Service as part of testing, will these entities be preserved after the production copy data refresh?
No. The production copy refresh is a data wipe and restore from production. Any new data created between UAT production copy snap shots is overwritten. If you want to preserve data, Flexera recommends that you export the data and re-import it after the data refresh. Please refer to "Importing and Exporting Entities" in the FlexNet Operations Producer Portal Help Guide for more information.
Can I opt out of a quarterly production copy data refresh?
No. As part of the terms of service for using the Production Copy Service, data refreshes are done on a fixed global schedule for all customers who use the service. If your schedule depends on data persistence across the scheduled data refresh dates and data export/import is not an option, use the UAT environment to preserve your test data/configuration.
Can I choose which of the UAT or Production Copy Service environments is to receive a production data refresh?
No. Only the Production Copy Service environment receives the quarterly production data refresh.
What will the URL of the Production Copy Service environment look like?
The URL format is: https://<siteid>-fno-pc.flexnetoperations.com/flexnet/operations/
Can the Production Copy Service URL be changed?
No. The URL has to be the same as your existing Production and UAT instance.
What data is not refreshed with the Production Copy Service?
Most production data, such as transaction data (entitlements, activations, devices, etc.), and configurations and customization of content files (email templates, web pages) is refreshed.
Data not supported out of the box | Production Copy Service Details |
---|---|
Electronic Software Delivery Files | If you want to test ESD functionality, you must re-upload the file. Metadata associated with ESD configuration will be available. |
Custom License Generator technology |
No hosted key generators will be automatically included. If you want to test or modify them, you must re-create them. Flexera license generators will be supported out of the box. |
Use of Custom Call Outs | Not supported out of box. |
Data Warehouse | Data found in any of the reporter capabilities in the cloud data warehouse will not be available. |
Aspera Uploads | Not supported out of box. |
How should I use the Production Copy Service to test existing internal workflows that overlap multiple systems?
The Production Copy Service uses the same testing configuration behavior as the UAT environment, except with the addition of actual production data. Remember to configure your non-Flexera testing infrastructure to point to the Production Copy Service. If this is sufficient for your testing, then no additional changes are necessary. If you want to modify the Production Copy Service to exhibit different testing behavior, then you must configure the Production Copy Service environment accordingly.
By default, the UAT does not send out emails. Will the Production Copy Service also keep this default setting?
The Production Copy Service behaves like the UAT environment?emails are logged but they are not sent out. If you want to test features that send emails, you must enable that setting.
Will the Production Copy Service support complex customization out of the box?
Most complex customization will not be supported out of the box. If your FlexNet Operations instance has complex customizations, Flexera recommends that you first contact FlexNet Operations SaaS Operations to determine what can be supported. Please work with the appropriate Flexera sales, support, or customer success representative to open a request for information. In some cases, FlexNet Operations SaaS Operations can provide support for a nominal additional cost. Examples include re-hosting custom license generator technology or ensuring that single sign-on works properly. More complex cases may require use of Flexera Global Consulting Services to duplicate complex customizations that are required for testing.
Customizations related to using your own branded content (such as email, portals, etc.) are supported and considered to be production data that is part of the refresh.
