Why would FLC_HOSTID_TYPE_USER change on Windows?
Why would FLC_HOSTID_TYPE_USER change on Windows?
Summary
Why would FLC_HOSTID_TYPE_USER change on Windows?Question
Assume a Windows user activated an entitlement 'demoENT' for the device 'Shared.Device;'Note that 'Shared.Device' is FLC_HOSTID_TYPE_USER, i.e. it should match to Windows login.
Somehow, the Windows user managed to change FLC_HOSTID_TYPE_USER to 'shared.Device' (notice the lower-case in 'shared').
Then the Windows user tried to reactivate the license and that failed due to MISMATCHED_HOSTID_FOR_UUID
User claims that some products from the entitlement pass licensing check.
Any idea what could be the reason for FLC_HOSTID_TYPE_USER change?
Answer
We use the windows system function GetUserNameW to get the username so unless that returned something different we?re not going to change the case of the returned username.
