Clock Windback Detection doesn't work with get feature information
Clock Windback Detection doesn't work with get feature information
Summary
Clock Windback Detection doesn't work with get feature informationQuestion
The ?Clock Windback Detection? as mentioned in the "FlexNet Embedded 2016: C SDK User Guide" works well with acquiring a feature. However, it doesn't appear to work for get feature information. Why?Answer
This has to do with what information is communicated. If the clock windback is enabled in the code, the acquire feature call will fail when the system clock is altered. This is working. However, in the same situation, the get feature info call will still return the feature as being valid. So when a license expires, if the user rolls the clock back the feature info would indicate that the feature is available, but the acquire would fail (since the clock has been tampered with). This could lead to the user getting conflicting information. This is how the code is designed, and is a situation where the producer is going to need better messaging for their customers.
