Deleted Message still show up as available updates on the client
Hi
We are using the Update Service Agent 2.20 with C/C++.
We published a message on the Notification Server with the title 'My Test Message' for version 5.0.4.10 of an app.
Was able to view the message on the client machine.
Next went onto the Server and deleted the 'My Test Message'
and added a new 'My New Test Message' for the same version.
When we try to view the available messages this time, we still see
the old 'My Test Message' when we are expecting to see
'My New Test Message'. We don't see the 'My New Test Message' at all.
Any idea what could be going on ? Anything to do with any kind of caching on the server side?
BTW, we host our own IS Notification Server - not using the one hosted by InstallShield.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
SY

... Also even when I use the Test utility from the Update Service Publisher Website it shows the old deleted message as the only available update.
Thank you for any assistance with this issue.

This certainly is very strange.
1. Do you still see "My Test Message" in the "Messages" view?
2. Do you still see "My Test Message" in the "Products" view?
3. When you assigned "My New Test Message" to a product, did you assign it to the correct version of the product?

Hi
Yes - it is really strange
To answer your questions...
1. I don't see "My Test Message" in the "Messages" view.
2. I don't see "My Test Message" in the "Products" view.
3. Yes I did assign to the correct version of the product. And I do see "My New Test Message" in the 'Products' and Messages view.
Thank you
SY

As you mentioned it could be a caching problem. Browse to the following location on the Notification Server:
C:\Program Files\InstallShield\Update Service\isnotf\ISUSLOCALNS
This folder contains a number of folder with GUID names. Each GUID corresponds to ProductCode you have registered with the update service. This is the cache. Delete the folder for the product in question (or you could delete all too). Now try checking for updates.
If this fails, try adding yet another test message to this product and see if it makes any difference. Thanks!

ah uh!!
Deleting the contents of the
C:\Program Files\InstallShield\Update Service\isnotf\ISUSLOCALNS
folder on the Notification Server corrected the problem.
Thank you
