Counted Instances

We want to make it so that no more than X number of application instances can be opened at any given time on the same computer. Where X is some number defined in the license file...

Is there a way to define X in the license file...or is application instance counting per box already available?

Assuming you're asking about license files in the FLEXnet Publisher sense:

For served, counted licenses, the DUP_GROUP keyword (or equivalent lc_checkout parameter) controls whether multiple launches count as one use or multiple uses. There's nothing built in for a count greater than one, though perhaps you could use a custom duplicate-group criterion or a checkout filter or suchlike to control it...

DUP_GROUP is only valid with counted licenses. Is there any support for node-locked?

I believe node-locked licenses are always uncounted. You could presumably mock something up using a checkout filter, but I expect it would be up to the application code to detect other running instances.

Ended up creating a vendor defined which had variables in that string that maintained the number of instances available, and whether the application could run in command-line and/or GUI mode.
