Help!! Patch is not able to update old Dlls files
Hello,
i am crating patch using Patch Design view, by giving previous and latest Msi . Patch is created successfully and provided Update.exe. I installed previous build first on the machine and then try to install Patch hoping our old files must be modified but unfortunately it is not. I have looked Log files also, and there is no error in that. pls help how to fix this problem that patch is not able to install modified files.
I tried one more thing: after installing previous build msi, i deleted the folder and files that previous build had created , and then install Update.exe, this time it worked and i found updated files via patch..
Pls help me asap..:(

so it seems the .dll files are being used by other process. Before doing the patch make sure that the .dll files are not used by other process. you can use process explorer to check. If found then use the custom action to kill the process.
