Scalable Computers Import on SAM Core

You can now import and update large numbers of computers in SAM Core more reliably than ever before. The enhanced Computers Import capability introduces scalable processing for computer metadata and custom fields, allowing administrators to load and maintain large computer estates without running into timeout issues or manual record-by-record updates.

What's New?

Import computer metadata at scale

Import thousands of computer records through the Computers Import workflow. Large imports are processed asynchronously in the background, enabling reliable handling of enterprise-scale datasets without impacting system responsiveness.

Support for Custom Fields

Computer imports now include support for Custom Fields. You can populate and update both standard computer metadata and organization-specific custom attributes using a single import file, eliminating the need for separate maintenance activities.

Reliable Background Processing

Import operations are executed using scalable background processing designed to handle large volumes of records. Users can continue working in SAM Core while imports are running, improving productivity and reducing interruption.

Live Progress Visibility

Track the status of your import as it progresses. Administrators receive clear feedback on the operation's current state, helping them understand whether an import is in progress, completed successfully, or requires attention.

Detailed Error Reporting

When an import completes, the results clearly indicate whether all records were processed successfully or if any records encountered issues. Validation errors and failed rows are presented with detailed information, making troubleshooting straightforward.

VMware vSphere 9.0 Compatibility for the VMware vSphere Connector in Snow Integration Manager (SIM)

We are pleased to announce that the VMware vSphere connector in Snow Integration Manager (SIM) has successfully completed end-to-end compatibility testing with VMware vSphere 9.0, including vCenter Server 9.0 and ESXi 9.0.

The validation confirmed that connector authentication, inventory discovery, and data ingestion continue to work as expected.

• Continued inventory coverage for VMware vSphere 9.0 environments
• Compatibility with vCenter Server 9.0 and ESXi 9.0
• Confidence when upgrading or deploying VMware vSphere 9.0
• Reduced connector integration and compatibility risk when upgrading your VMware environment

Important note

VMware vSphere 9.0 compatibility was validated using the existing VMware vSphere connector in Snow Integration Manager (SIM). No specific SIM upgrade, connector update, additional component, or configuration change is required.

However, we recommend using the latest available version of Snow Integration Manager to benefit from the latest product updates and fixes.

Built for Big Data: Major Improvements to Snow Atlas Report Exports

More reliable exports, notifications, and a simpler Excel experience with XLSX as the new standard.

Customers rely on Snow Atlas exports to analyze, audit, and share data across their organizations. To improve reliability and scalability for large reports such as Applications per computer and Applications per computer and user, we've enhanced the report export service and modernized our supported export formats. 

What's New?

✅ Improved Large Export Reliability

We've enhanced the export service to better handle high-volume reports, reducing scenarios where exports could time out, remain stuck in progress, or fail to generate output files. 

✅ Export Notifications

Snow Atlas will notify you if your export failed, with information about the cause, allowing you to better troubleshoot if a failure incurs.

✅ XLS Export Format Retired

Following extensive performance testing, we are retiring support for the legacy XLS (Excel 2003) export format. Testing showed that XLS struggles with large datasets and is significantly less reliable than modern alternatives such as XLSX and CSV. 

As part of this change:

• XLSX will become the default Excel export format
• The export format selection setting will be removed from User Settings
• Existing exports that previously generated XLS files will automatically generate XLSX files instead

This simplifies the export experience while ensuring customers benefit from a more modern, scalable, and reliable format.

Recommended Formats

• CSV for the largest datasets and maximum scalability
• XLSX for Excel-based analysis and sharing
• PDF for presentation-ready reports
• XML for integration scenarios

Performance testing showed CSV to be the most reliable format for multi-million-row exports, with XLSX also performing well across most large-report scenarios.

These changes will be rolled out to all Atlas customers on September 2nd, 2026.

Enhanced experience of SharePoint site management in SAM on Snow Atlas

To make it easier to manage and monitor your SharePoint sites, we have introduced a new details page. The new page provides greater visibility into configured SharePoint sites and how they are being used.

What's new?

• Dedicated page for SharePoint details [UX redesign]

You now have access to a modernized page with details on your configured SharePoint sites. The page gives you a clearer overview of the SharePoint connections and their configurations.

• View site usage

The Location usage tab helps you understand where a SharePoint site is being used across scheduled report configurations, making it easier to manage and maintain report delivery destinations. The tab is only available to administrators.

• Improved navigation and usability

The updated experience includes UX improvements such as direct navigation to the configured SharePoint URL and a more streamlined layout that aligns with other modernized pages across SAM on Snow Atlas.

Why this matters?

The enhanced SharePoint management experience helps administrators:

• Quickly review SharePoint site configuration details.
• Understand which reports are scheduled to use a specific SharePoint location.
• Simplify troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
• Manage report delivery destinations through a consistent and modernized interface.

ANNOUNCEMENT: "Files per computer" report Reimagined, Complete, Performant, and Trusted

We are introducing two major enhancements to the Files per Computer report:

Performance and reliability improvements

1. These have been significantly improved through enhancements to data processing and data loading mechanisms.
2. As a result, report data is loaded and displayed much faster, overall processing performance is improved, and additional mechanisms have been introduced to provide better visibility in case data is not processed as expected.

Control over Linux and Unix raw software data inclusion

1. You can now manage the inclusion of Linux/Unix data in the report via a new setting in the UI (SAM Core settings → Asset management → Files per computer report)

When enabled, Linux and Unix raw software data is included in the report. Because this data can significantly increase report volume, we recommend enabling it only when necessary, as it may impact report processing time and overall performance.

After enabling the setting, the data becomes visible once:

1. The relevant computers report new inventory data, and
2. The overnight data maintenance process completes.

If the setting is disabled, the data is removed from the report after the next overnight data maintenance process.

Example

• Inventory reported: June 10
• Overnight processing completes: June 11 (early morning)
• Data visible in report: June 11

If the setting is later disabled on June 12, the Linux/Unix data will no longer appear in the report after the overnight processing completes on June 13.
