Please check above image. In my report, I have inserted slicer for Software Release and in dropdown, I have selected all and deselected Microsift Edge 113.

Below image shows slicer selection and field selection.

imageBelow image shows how to change slicer settings for dropdown and multiple selection.

imageYou can enable search from the three dots in the right top corner of the table.

  2. Compliance Summary Multiple Metrics

    Hey Friends,

I think this is a Snow design thing, but has anyone seen it where if an application has multiple metrics and is non-compliant, it shows up in the Compliance Summary report twice?

We've got an application that is non-compliant and is showing up twice, but it looks like it's related to multiple metrics. I've cross checked this across a few different platforms we have on different versions and can see it across the board up to 9.12.1, so just curious if anyone else has seen this and if it's a by-design 'feature'?

Hi Liam, I see the same behavior here on SLM 9.12

I think you are right that this happens because of the multiple metric ... I think it makes sense to see both rows because that also gives hints regarding the best way to bring the application to compliance. The downside is that it shows double lines in some cases, I agree.

    • Hi @Laim McKenzie ,

As far as I know and also Samuel states this is intended, there is no other possibility to show the requirement for different metrics.

Also the license tracking reports do show the result in several rows, one row per possible metric.

But adding the column "Is multiple metrics" also to Compliance Summary would be a good idea.

In Report Compliance per Organisation this column is available.

  3. SLM cannot count my licenses
Hello, I have an issue with compliance and licenses. It looks like SLM cannot count a licenses in compliance report. Let me explain my issue below: I check compliance and I can see 0 at all columns but there is a price so that means there is a license (License is still valid - I checked that). In my opinion in this situation if we don't have any of those installations but we got a valid license we should be able to see compliance >0. I had the same issue with Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 Enterprise - I changed here "Assignment type" to Organization, then SLM counts this license Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I got SLM version 9.6.

    • Hello, first of all: SLM never counts wrong ;-) But it appears to me that you are missing one important step: The metric of your Exchange server license is set to "installation" while the metric of your SQL server license is set to "Core". When you create a license with a CPU or Core metric, there is a hint that you will have to assign the license to a computer or datacenter. Obviously, you haven't done this, as all your 86 Cores are marked as "unassigned". This simply means that SLM will not include these licenses into a compliance calculation. So the solution is simple: assign the unassigned licenses. Kind regards Axel

  4. How SLM counts compliance?
Hello, can someone explain me how SLM counts Microsoft compliance? I got one datacenter where I got 14 VMs (13 of them are Windows Servers). In application tab I can see Windows Server 2016 and required 400 licenses on this datacenter. Server hardware: Processor = 1 Cores per processor = 10 I am using Windows Server Standard 2019 license with downgrade rights. Can someone explain me why there is required 400? If I count 13 (vms) x 16 (minimal requirment per core) = 208.

  5. App not complian in App Family but each App is compliant by itself
Hi, currently I am checking Microsoft Office for compliance. Within the application family 'Microsoft Office' the graph for older versions shows an incompatibility of 50 % missing licenses. In this case only one license is missing. Fortunatelly there are only two older application installations.  Having a closer look which application is not compliant I see we've got one Office Professional 2000 and one installation Office 2003 Professional I haven't found any possibility to see which application is not covered. Question 1 : How am I able to see which application is not compliant when I have a look to the red bar in the summary graph? We've got several Office 2010 licenses when can downgrade to Office 2003: Having a look to each application gives me the following compliance for each applciation. Compliance recalculation have been done already. We've got some old Microsoft Office 2000 Professional licenses which are fine: The one Microsoft Office 2003 installation is also licensed well by getting one dowgraded license (from 2010): This seems to work well, too. Ich can see one Microsoft Office 2010 license has been downgraded to an older version: Consequently only Office 2000 and 2003 are installed therefore the bar schould be green allover! Question 2 : Is there a possibility to see the target version which has received the downgraded licenses? Question 3 : Why does the bar show an uncompliance red part? Thank you for your help. Regards Tim

    • Hi Tim, I think the report "License tracking per computer " can help you. That's my absolute favorite report, to check and validate the compliance calculation. In your case you first should create report criteria for application name like Microsoft Office%Professional% When you see the report result, then you can for example add the columns: Licensed Application, License ID and Total compliance. Then you can find if the installations are covered, and when they are covered what application (and licenseid) was used.   Hope that will also help you

Web Application non-compliant or free to use?

Since turning on web metering in January, I have noticed and reported a large number of web applications being accessed by our users. In some cases the application are reflective of the application fleet we use, however majority of the web apps reported have been accessed by users via a browser, either to complete a form, do free online training, or just through the normal course of accessing and using a website. In some cases the transition from website to web app is seamless for the user.

Currently Snow is reporting most of these web apps as non-compliant. I agree that these are licenseable applications, but it's the website administrator that needs to be licensed not the user.

Is there some way that this can be managed within Snow?

If we wanted to take an overall compliance figure from Snow these results would skew our results. Thanks

    • could you just add these applications to the compliance exclusion list?

  7. Compliance exclusions with Requirement Moved
I have a problem with compliance exclusion: I excluded one server by making a new exclusion rule, but it shows uncompliant, because of " Requirement moved ". This server has Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter installed, but has Virtual Machine with Windows Server 2016 Standard , so SLM finds the requirement to move licenses from Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2016, but how should I exclude this server from licensing? I can exclude only Windows Server 2012 R2 which is physically installed, but cannot do that on Windows Server 2016. Any ideas?

    Application Compliance Per Computer Report

Is there a way of generating a report like the Applications per Computer but with the option to add a column for compliance for the computer.  Under the individual computer records you can see if the application installed is covered or not. But I can't how to extract this for all computers.

Basically, I'd like to see installations covered by licenses and which are not on each computer, I want to group the applications, and then target the owners of those computers to have their non-compliant applications removed.

At the moment all I can see is to run the Applications per Computer, and a Compliance Summary, but this will not show me which computers are covered and which are not.

    • Hi, i think best way for this: you modify the report License tracking per computer. Please see my screenshot : What do you think? kind regards Lars
