Software Removal or Update - Should it show up nexdt day in SLM?

We are seeing some issues with the versions or even the fact that something was removed on clients. Specifically, a machine had Autodesk Mechanical 2011. It was removed recently but it still shows up as being installed. Should it be reflected the next time the client sends the INV file? Or does it take a couple days to flush out of the DB?

In one case the laptop was reimaged and repurposed to another user. It still shows up.

Hi Mark, please be be aware that depending on when the software was removed it can take 48 hours before the information is reflected in Snow License Manager. Jelle

Hi Mark, The easiest way to see if License Manager is hitting on a recognition rule for a uninstalled copy of Autodesk is to review the raw data inside Snow Inventory SMACC interface. Follow the steps below. 1) Locate machine in the SMAC tool. 2) Browse the application list to see if there are any left over registry entries or EXE's that did not get removed from the uninstall. If there are any remnants left over from the uninstall they will hit on a recognition rule stating that Autodesk is still installed.

Mark, I think this is possiby part of a wider Autodesk problem and something that I have encountered. See https://community.snowsoftware.com/message/1838-autodesk-and-token-flex-health-check-desktop-scan-task. There are several methods to remove software but only one "Autodesk" way (according to Autodesk themselves) and if this is not carried out correctly, you end up with "orphaned registry information". One example I can give is Autodesk Revit MEP 2012 Network License. This sometimes leaves behind this: This is not installed but does get picked as a fully loaded application. I have had people use RegEdit to clear these but as we have some 385 systems, at over 30 different sites and with sometimes 30 or 40 registry entries, we have asked for more information from Snow on which Registry entry. According to Autodesk, this has been improvd in the last couple of years and we should not face this with 2014 and onwards. Mark

  Hi Mark, That is great information. We often see this happen for lots of software. Kind of a pain tot clean up but at least we know the colporate. Great work!
