Enhanced experience of SharePoint site management in SAM on Snow Atlas

To make it easier to manage and monitor your SharePoint sites, we have introduced a new details page. The new page provides greater visibility into configured SharePoint sites and how they are being used.

What's new?

• Dedicated page for SharePoint details [UX redesign]

You now have access to a modernized page with details on your configured SharePoint sites. The page gives you a clearer overview of the SharePoint connections and their configurations.

• View site usage

The Location usage tab helps you understand where a SharePoint site is being used across scheduled report configurations, making it easier to manage and maintain report delivery destinations. The tab is only available to administrators.

• Improved navigation and usability

The updated experience includes UX improvements such as direct navigation to the configured SharePoint URL and a more streamlined layout that aligns with other modernized pages across SAM on Snow Atlas.

Why this matters?

The enhanced SharePoint management experience helps administrators:

• Quickly review SharePoint site configuration details.
• Understand which reports are scheduled to use a specific SharePoint location.
• Simplify troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
• Manage report delivery destinations through a consistent and modernized interface.

ANNOUNCEMENT: "Files per computer" report Reimagined, Complete, Performant, and Trusted

We are introducing two major enhancements to the Files per Computer report:

Performance and reliability improvements

1. These have been significantly improved through enhancements to data processing and data loading mechanisms.
2. As a result, report data is loaded and displayed much faster, overall processing performance is improved, and additional mechanisms have been introduced to provide better visibility in case data is not processed as expected.

Control over Linux and Unix raw software data inclusion

1. You can now manage the inclusion of Linux/Unix data in the report via a new setting in the UI (SAM Core settings → Asset management → Files per computer report)

When enabled, Linux and Unix raw software data is included in the report. Because this data can significantly increase report volume, we recommend enabling it only when necessary, as it may impact report processing time and overall performance.

After enabling the setting, the data becomes visible once:

1. The relevant computers report new inventory data, and
2. The overnight data maintenance process completes.

If the setting is disabled, the data is removed from the report after the next overnight data maintenance process.

Example

• Inventory reported: June 10
• Overnight processing completes: June 11 (early morning)
• Data visible in report: June 11

If the setting is later disabled on June 12, the Linux/Unix data will no longer appear in the report after the overnight processing completes on June 13.

Release Notification on SAM Core - Snow Atlas: Updated licensing compliance for VMware vSphere

To align with the latest VMware subscription model introduced by Broadcom, Snow Atlas now includes enhanced compliance logic and reporting capabilities:

• Core-based licensing compliance: License compliance is now calculated based on the latest VMware subscription model, which requires a minimum of 16 cores per CPU.
• Updated License compliance summary report: The report now reflects the core-based licensing logic, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of VMware entitlements.
• VMware bundle categorization: SAM on Snow Atlas now identifies and categorizes VMware bundles in accordance with the latest Broadcom licensing structure.

Why this matters:

Previously SAM core did not account for the minimum requirement of 16 cores per CPU when calculating license requirements for the VMware vSphere family. This could result in incorrect "over assignment" flags for servers that actually met the licensing threshold. With this enhancement, compliance calculations now correctly apply the per-CPU minimum, giving you an accurate license position.

Quality:

This release has been validated through:

• VMware licensing logic: The updated VMware vSphere licensing rules (covering VVF, VVS, VCF, and associated bundles ) have been validated through manual functional testing to ensure that compliance calculations correctly reflect the new per-CPU core-based minimum requirements.
• Compliance reporting: The License compliance summary report has been tested end-to-end to confirm it accurately reflects the updated licensing rules.

Pre-release notification: Edit of multiple agreements (standard fields) in SAM on Snow Atlas

Release summary:

We are excited to introduce Edit of multiple agreements (standard fields) in SAM on Snow Atlas. This enhancement enables you to update multiple agreements in a single operation, directly from the Agreements list, eliminating repetitive manual updates and reducing reliance on APIs or technical support.

What is included?

• Multi-editing capability: Select and update up to 1,000 agreements of the same type in one action.
• Standard field updates: Modify key agreement attributes across multiple records simultaneously.
• Smart field behavior: Fields with identical values are pre-filled, while differing values remain empty for selective updates.
• In-app experience: Perform all updates directly from the Agreements list without APIs, imports or external tools.
• Permission consistency: Uses existing edit permissions with no additional configuration required.

Why it matters?

• Removes repetitive work: Eliminates the need to update agreements one by one.
• Saves significant time: Multi-editing that previously took time can now be completed in seconds.
• Improves data consistency: Apply changes across multiple agreements simultaneously, reducing the risk of errors.
• Reduces technical dependency: Enables users to perform multi-editing without relying on APIs, imports, or technical teams.
• Frees up time for strategic work: Allows teams to focus on higher-value activities such as compliance, optimization, and vendor management.

Note

• Support for editing custom fields on agreements is currently in development and will be delivered in a future iteration.
• Our teams are actively working on expanding this capability as part of ongoing improvements to multi-editing.

Pre-Release notification on SAM Core - Snow Atlas: Support for importing Excel files (xlsx)

Release information: You can now import asset data using Excel (.xlsx) files in addition to CSV when importing changes to your assets in SAM Core. This removes the need to convert spreadsheets before importing, letting you work with the file format you already use.

What problem are we solving? SAM Core previously only accepted CSV files for asset imports. Customers who maintained business processes built around Excel spreadsheets had to convert their files before every import - a manual step that added friction and increased the risk of errors. Excel import was supported in the previous version of the product, making this a regression for customers who migrated to Snow Atlas.

Before Scenario

• Asset imports only accepted CSV file format.

After Scenario - Key Enhancements

• Excel Import Support: Asset imports now accept .xlsx files across all supported asset types, including Computers, Users, and Agreements.
• No change to existing CSV imports: All existing CSV-based import workflows continue to function as before.
• Updated UI: The import interface now clearly communicates that both CSV and Excel file formats are supported.

Positive Business Outcomes

• Reduced friction for SAM Managers who maintain import workflows using Excel.
• Eliminated need for manual file conversion prior to import, reducing processing time and error risk.
• Restored parity with legacy import behaviour, supporting a smoother transition to Snow Atlas for migrating customers.

Release notification on SAM Core - Snow Atlas: Add License entry point on Application detail pages

Release information:

You can now navigate to the Add License page directly from any Application detail page tab in SAM on Snow Atlas. When you navigate this way, the Application Name field is pre-populated automatically, making it faster to complete the license record.

What problem are we solving?

The release of the new Application detail pages in July 2025 removed the ability to create a license directly from the Application context. Users had to navigate away from the application they were working with, open the Add License page independently, and manually search for and select the application - adding unnecessary steps to a common workflow.

• Pre-populated Application Name: The Application Name field on the Add License page is automatically filled based on the application navigated from, reducing manual input and improving accuracy.
• Editable Pre-population: The pre-populated field remains editable, supporting scenarios such as versionless applications or licenses scoped across an application family.

Positive Business Outcomes

• Reduced friction for SAM Managers and Compliance Analysts in high-frequency licensing workflows.
• Improved data entry accuracy through application context carried into the Add License page.
• Faster license creation with fewer steps from discovery to record completion.
