Information: Wrong Windows Server 2022 license requirement calculation in SLM 9.20.0

Sometimes here in community people ask for known issues of SLM versions.

This is an information for SLM 9.20.0, 9.20.1 and 9.21.0

 

With SLM 9.20.0 Snow added some new features to calculate Windows Server 2022 license requirements. Unfortunately something is wrong with that calculation.

 

Although we do not have any Windows Server 2022 installation yet, SLM do calculate for a lot of servers, maily ESX hosts with many VM's a requirement for Windows Server 2022 Datacenter

I did not find a rule yet, some requirements are calculated correctly, some wrong.

 

I already created a ticket at Snow support.

    With 9.21.2 this issue is solved in our environment. No wrong Windows Server 2022 requirement calculation anymore.

    An Update on this.

    I got PRB 04566082 and Snow told me, they could reproduce the issue. So I hope they will soon provide a fix for this.

    We have the same problem. From license assignment, settings, relations VM-ESX, everything is ok, but license counting is wrong.

    Thank you for the report, we aim to provide a resolution in the Snow License Manager 9.21.2 release. The target date is end of May / beginning of June (subject to change).

        Hi @Laim McKenzie​ - I've contacted the team involved who are currently looking into it. All published articles in the known issues list are under review as they first need to be "translated" before publishing (removing customer & internal data tied to the PRB and make it readable).

        Thanks for that information. I searched this in Known issues, but could not find this.

        I know from my ticket the PRB is 04566082, but also can't find this with that number.

        I also do know it is planned for 9.21.2, and also can't find this in known issues, when I search for 9.21.2 as targeted release

        Is there any way to do a better search in Known issues?
