Version of SQL Server Components

Hi All,

I assume a lot of you also are using Microsoft SQL Servers.

In SLM there is information about individual Microsoft SQL Server tools. In information about tools such as:

-Reporting Services,

-Analysis Services,

-Integration Services,

there is no information on which package (enterprise, standard, developer) is installed.

It happens that only one component is installed and at the moment there is no information about what license should be assigned.

Does perhaps anybody has problem like this and can tell me how this can be adress correctly?

Is there any other way than asking the server administrator for component versions?

Many thanks

  • Looking at a licensing guide for v2019 it appears 2 of the services can be installed for any edition. You might be able to get a clue based on the Windows Server edition installed but asking would be better.

capacity limits grid for SQL ServicesIf no one claims ownership it seems like your best option would be to request an uninstall otherwise you have to decide which edition to bill for, and someone will be unhappy when they get the bill, and you then must justify your choice.

  • Hi WeronikaPra,

In case I may encounter such situation I used to make a license with the minimum (or required) amount of cores and assign it to an MS SQL Standard edition.

Then the computers involved are added to the license and should clear the license incompliance.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Detlev Schigt
