License Settings - continuous/current month
SLM default Application "License settings" tab is set to Period = "Use system default (current month)". We do not use "current month" for any application that I can think of. This means every application inventoried needs to be adjusted which is a little arduous but necessary so that User licenses do not fall out of a compliance requirement "License Required" on ribbon. example
- Org purchase 5 x Adobe Photoshop CC User Subscriptions
- Org assigns 5 Users to the License
- Only 3 Users use the license within the month
- Result is
- Users = 5
- Licenses = 3 (another real annoyance as the own right to 5 and NOT 3)
- License requirement =3
- Coverage = 3
- Compliance = 0
So disregarding the obvious 'weirdness' of the Application Ribbon results for User Licenses (another post) and concentrating on "current month" License Setting, I would like to put up an Idea to change the default "90 days".
Can I see any upvotes to this before I post Idea?

I looked in the past to change that default value but could not find where to set it.
I would definitely upvote. I guess Continuous/90-day should be the default.
Current month would only be for non-transferable, calendar-based subscriptions as far as I can see.
isn't this configured in the SLM SMACC? NI_COMPARE_PERIOD?
I think it is but the only option you have in that setting is "Current Month" so I guess the Ideas board post would be to add other options in to this setting.

The NI_COMPARE_PERIOD description in the guide I did not connect to this setting (rightly or wrongly). However, Joseph is right, the only option is Current Month within SMACC.
@Randy Teng could you confirm for us that the NI_COMPARE_PERIOD setting in SMACC directly relates to the posted question please?
Based on Randy's response I will search the Idea Board. Perhaps someone has already suggested.....but do not have enough followers to get the vote count up 😆 (like me).

Also, we have requested the product is changed to use the default setting for users as Continuous and 90 days rather than the current default that uses the 'current month' setting and I believe this has since been approved for a future release.

Thanks @Mike Rossouw ! I guess the questions are related from the point of view that my questions happened to target the same application setting. Regarding this question: That is super news for the community that the default setting 'current month' is changing to 'continuous' with '90 day' by default in a future release 👍.
