Snow On-boarding / FAQ for new users

Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you already created some kind of on-boarding document or frequently asked questions for new Snow SLM end-users.

I've created some basic guide for actions such us add a license, add agreements, etc. But now Iam creating a FAQ as support material.

Do you guys have something like that that could be shared? Some examples below.

  • Why I can’t see all Computers of my estate?
  • What does it mean if an application installed on a Computer is listed with a different color?
  • Which are the different Computer status?
  • How to know if an application is blacklisted?
  • Which are the different license assignment types?
  • How to find licenses not assigned?
  • etc.

Thanks and regards,

  • I usually give them access and tell them to look around - for a beginner it is quite intuitive. For some users, I do a face-to-face walkthrough, focusing on their specific issues. We made an attempt where we published some simple exercises (for example "find unused installations of Adobe All Apps"), but I never got any feedback that the end users used it. If you're going to create an FAQ, focus on things that have an immediate and tangible effect - money talks. End users don't care about colors on applications.

    • Thanks Jonas Nilsson . Will take it in consideration.
  • Hello, I have a question? How can i change the snow logo and the color in the portal? It can ?
    • Community Manager (Flexera Software)

Hi Humberto, welcome to Snow Globe! It is possible to change the appearance of Snow License Manager. You can change colors and also the logo in the top left corner. I am afraid I can't tell you the exact amount of possible changes, as this is no actual feature and there is no documentation about this. Please also note that your changes will be overwritten with every update. All in all, this is a tweak used by some of our customers and partners, but no actual product feature. Please keep this in mind. A good starting point for your investigations would be the web directory of Snow License Manager, which resides by default under 'C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Web' . Someone with web coding experience will shortly know how this is setup. I hope this helps. /marcel

Hi Humberto, I am afraid but I don't really get the issue that you ran into. Could you please describe it in more detail and please add screenshots? Also, please create a separate question for your case. Thank you! Happy to assist! /marcel
