  • Hi Mark You can certainly do a bulk update of the purchase date. It's part of the standard import template in SLM. Not sure about the others, but you could always try with a single device and see if it works by adding the fields to the template.
    • I see the template "update_existing_computers". Assuming I use that. If I leave items in columns I do not want to update blank it will just pass t hose and move on to what I have in a column correct?  I will test it on a few computers to see the output.  thanks,
      • I tested with one computer by just putting data in the "computer name" and "purchase date" fields. Says it completed successfully, but not showing up in SLM. does it take time to show up or should it be immediate?
        • Hi Mark Yes if you leave blank it won't overwrite the data. You need to run a Data Update Job (DUJ) to see it. Either do this manually (but be careful as you could lock out users if aren't on an SPE platform), or wait till the morning (or Monday now). Thanks Adam

Hi ‌, ‌, Just want to add on this, all imports via SLM Web are direct and do not require a DUJ. If however you don't see any updated data, this might be a cache-related issue, which is mostly solved by either logging out and back in or via Home -> Administration -> Clear temporary cache (top right corner). • Now that I have populated 95% of the purchase dates for our Dell PC's and Servers into SNOW, I want to get that data into ServiceNow CMDB via the already established connector.  It appears that the Purchase date is not a field that is part of the aggregation by default. I see you can add and aggregate custom fields but Purchase date is not a custom field. If I add it I get two choices in the column chooser for Purchase date. One with the data I imported and the other that is partially populated. Obviously I took the wrong approach.  So I have two questions, first how do I get the purchase date part of the aggregation, and second, how do I get other missing PC related data that is in SNOW but is not showing up in ServiceNow?  Has anyone been successful getting custom data info ServiceNow?  Thanks

Hi ‌, You are right, according to the ServiceNow the purchase date of any machine is not transferred to ServiceNow. The first thing which comes into my mind is the export/import function to populate a custom field of the machines, using the field of the purchase date, a similar approach to . The steps would be as follows: Create a custom field for computers and call it i.e. "Purchase Date ServiceNow" Open up "search for computers" and drag the column "purchase date" to it. Export the list of the/all machines. Remove all columns from the excel file but computer name and purchase date Run the import "update existing computers" and select the field mapping of computer names and the purchase date to the earlier created custom field (here 'Purchase Date ServiceNow'). With this method you'll be able to populate the custom field with an existing value you have of the purchase date. Of course this is redundant, but like this you'll have the data in ServiceNow. I'd strongly suggest that you open up an Idea in the  to have the purchase date to be transferred as well Hope this helps! Best Regards Geoffrey Macquet Customer Success Manager EMEA
