Continuity of entitlement

I have two occurrences here we have perpetual licenses for software which is under maintenance, and where the software vendor has changed name (one merger and one rename), and newer versions of the software show in SLM as having a different vendor with no continuity of entitlement. I do not want to create a new entitlement as we have both "new" and "old" versions in use so the total entitlement needs to be shown to demonstrate compliance. What is the best way to measure compliance?

  • Oliver Berger (Flexera Software)

Hi ‌, normally, you would just create an update license with the new product and new maintenance, including downgrade rights, and connect the old license as base. Both Applications should be connected through the "Application Family" in our software catalog, so the downgrades should be automatically applied when necessary. If this is not happening, please get in touch with our SRS, so they can adjust the rules. BR Oliver
  • You can decide to split your licenses between the 2 applications, even if it involves some manual follow-up until all instances are updated. Another solution might be to create a custom bundle containing both applications. You can then assign your licenses to the bundle.
