Java compliance calculation in SLM is now wrong

Starting January 1, 2019, Oracle Java licenses are no longer free to use. We are all running around to be compliant.

Snow LM still has the metric "no license required" for Oracle Java. This is now incorrect.

The license engine needs to be updated rather urgently, so that we can get the correct compliance report from Snow.

Help please!

Hi Christopher - I will mark this as answered now as I know we both looked into this last week and the good news is that Snow have recently made change in our SRS rules to cover a lot of Java applications and updated the licence status to include the versions like JDK or JRE ad the update version so this should help you identify your correct compliance position. There is also a good FAQ on the Oracle site which explains this further and highlights that the January 15th, 2019 scheduled Critical Patch Update of Java 8 ( 8u201, and the related 8u202 Patch Set Update ) are the last updates available under the BCL license which is generally free for general purpose desktop and server use.   https://blogs.oracle.com/java-platform-group/oracle-java-se-releases-faq
