List of "All Applications"

Hello community,

have some doubts regarding how the "All Applications" list is created on SLM and maybe you can help me out.

Is this list created based only on installations that are found by SNOW agents or connectors? Or all SW that SNOW SRS may recognize?

If an installation doesn't match the list of Applications that SNOW is able to recognize, that Application will be also visible in SLM? How is it processed?

Thank you,

Morgado

  • Community Manager (Flexera Software)

Hi Morgado, the view 'All applications' shows all applications, that snow has discovered throughout your estate. Installed software is only discovered by Snow Inventory Agents, or in some customer cases imported through other data sources through Snow Integration Connectors. Snow License Manager only shows recognized software. Not recognized software is visible in Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMACC) on your backend server. Open SMACC, login to the SnowLicenseManager database and then open 'Software recognition' -> 'Application definitions'. In the top list 'Unassigned Inventoried Software' you will find all inventoried software, that didn't match a recognition rule. This is how the software recognition process works (simplified). /marcel

Hi Morgado,   based on Marcel answer one more additional tip. If you want to see all SRS know applications you can search for it in SLM web GUI, see screenshot.   The secret is to add a filter criterium “Also include not installed/used”. regards Siggi
      • Thank you both. What if you have millions of records listed in the "unassigned inventoried software"? There is a simple way to process this information? I've been noticing on my environment (we use Ivanti connector as main source - no Snow agents), many users with applications installed that are not reflecting on SLM so we lose visibility on that. If we validate a record then the same App or installation will be reflected on SLM even if the software is not on SRS? If for instance an App is not installed in the folder that SRS thought it should be then this will be listed in the "unassigned inventoried software"? I can identify in this list software that is also on SRS. Best, Morgado
