Deleting Computers / Users from SLM8
Is there a limit on the amount of users or computers you can delete at one time from SLM8?
- Jelle Wijndelts (Flexera Software)Hi Ken, i don't believe there is a restriction however the limitations are on the web browser and the speed by which this will then execute on the database. If you have large numbers to delete or have specific criteria by which you want to delete I would recommend deleting via a SQL script. Programmatically there is an upper limit of roughly 2 billion, or 2^31-1 Then the UI has a settings that might also impact your question: In the Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMaCC). There is a field under Configuration >> Basic Settings >> GRID_ALLBUTTON_LIMIT and that setting limits the number of rows SLM will display in the UI at any given time. which has the result of only displaying the number in that setting in the "multi select" option in the UI. - thimes13Hello, I know this is an older thread but I have an additional related follow-up. Is there a recommended # (max) for this setting or is it just based on your particular environment? I recently had to delete over 300 pages (~4500) items and ours is set to 1,000. So it took awhile to get to where I could finally display all and delete. We've never had performance issues as the system is way over built processor and ram wise, so I don't an issue increasing this significantly. Or should I? ThanksExpand Post
- Jelle Wijndelts (Flexera Software)Hi Thomas, The number is subjective to your environment. however if you are deleting that large a number of computers or even users I would recommend you use the obsolete action function in import. The process would be something like this: export all of your computer to excel (All computers view and export) Remove the computers from the excel sheet you want to delete. re-import the spreadsheet using the import function: update existing computers, on the second step there is an obsolete action option where you select delete. This will import/update all computers that are in the spreadsheet and delete any computers not in the spreadsheet from the database.
