How is SIOS detecting the usage of the various Oracle Options?

I have a situation where SLM tells me that Spatial and Graph is being "Used" on one of our instances, but when our DBA runs the "select * from DBA_FEATURE_USAGE_STATISTICS where name = 'Spatial';" command, the output tells us that it is not - and has never been used.

OS:Linux (Redhat)

Oracle:11.2.0.3.0

Agent: 5.2

SIOS:5.0.1

Hi Magnus, The problem might be due to the component "Locator" https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/SPATL/sdo_locator.htm#SPATL340   This comes as a part of Spacial and Graph. However if Locator is the only component used, in that case there is no need to pay a license for Spacial and Graph. • Thanks for the reply Detlev! Yes, I also read that the Locator function  could in some cases and on some versions incorrectly trigger the usage flag for spatial (ref:Oracle Doc ID 1381022.1), but in my case, as it seems as the SQL command shows no usage, I was curious on how the detection is being peformed. And perhaps I will also try to update to v6 and see whether the issue persists. EDIT: My situation remains the same after upgrade to Agent v6.0.0 and SIOS v6.0.0 (inventory server still at latest v5 though)

  • Hi Magnus,  Without having the exact details, it sounds like this could be related to a know issue with the oracle agent which is currently being worked on. It seems that the feature Locator can trigger the Spatial and Graph recognition for some versions of Oracle DB:s.  (Reference to problem ID: PRB0041743.) I would recommend that you file a ticket with the support to have this verified.  You will also be notified when the issue is solved.
    • Thanks! I have raised a support case hoping to get this verified.
