SLM - License error after test migration
Hello, we recently did a test upgrade from Snow Inventory 3.7 to 5 and SLM 7 to 8 using test licenses provided to us by our account manager. The migration itself was quite simple using the documentation and the wizard, yet when trying to login in SLM we receive following error :  "Access denied, invalid license information. Make sure that the database you are connecting to has the correct database version and that your license key is correct" (See Attached) We used a backup-copy of our productive SLM database to test the migration and see if everything went well. Are there additional log files where the error is a little bit more specified ?   Has this something to do with us only receiving test licenses for up to 50 Agents? We only extracted under 50 Agents from our Snow Inventory to avoid this issue.

  • As an additional note, we also migrated to a different server.

Hi Marcel, did you change the location of the SnowLicenseManager and SnowDB/SnowInventory databases? If so, you need to make adjustments in the so called 'connection strings', that tell the snow application server components where the databases are located and which credentials to use. This connection string is encrypted and can only be changed with snow support. The connection strings are placed in the following files: C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Web\Web.config C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow Inventory\Server\snowserver.config Simply search for 'connection' and you'll find them. Copy the content and send the new connection details (server\instance, sql user, password) along with it. You will receive the new connection string to replace. Please reach out to Snow Support to get them changed. If you like, you can also reach out to me directly and I'll help you out! /marcel

Hi Marcel, thank you for the quick reply in our support process. We successfully solved this issue correcting both roles/features on the server and making corrections in the licensing of our product. If you experience any other issues or have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Wishing you a nice and relaxing weekend! /marcel For internal reference: INC0024619
