Custom Field: Change 'Type'

Apologises if this has been answered before as there are a few threads relating to custom fields.

Is the a way of changing the 'type' of field once a custom field is created?

We have a customer that added a custom agreement field with the type 'text' and they added numbers to the field, now they are unable to filter reports on over or under a value; I have advised them type should have been 'digit' in order for reports to be able to calculate an under or over value.

The problem is they cannot seem to change the type retrospectively and they don't want to create a new field and amend all of the data; does anyone have any suggestions please?

Hi Dan, welcome to the Snow Globe and thank you for your questions. Your right that you can not change an already created custom field directly in SLM. What you might want to check for a possible solution, is update the current records based on a bulk import. Step 1: export all agreement rows that have the custom field attached to it. Step 2: delete the current custom field from SLM (the one that is based on TEXT) Step 3: add a new custom field in SLM (basically, the exact same one, but based on DIGIT) Step 4: import the exported data, and it will update the information in the custom field based on DIGIT. If you need any support on this, you might wish to contact your local Snow support department.

  Hey ‌ & ‌, It's worth noting here that during the update, it will remove the documentation that is uploaded to that specific agreement. So if you have the yearly renewals for that agreement stored in the document tab, from my experience doing this, it will remove those documents. Robert will be able to confirm if I'm incorrect, but it's definitely worth noting that it may remove your data in the Documents tab. Thanks
