How can I set the period for which non-inventoried computers are displayed in the WebUi (SLM)?

Numerous non-inventoried assets are displayed in the web interface. In our case, the date goes back to 04/02/2022. However, a lot of these devices are no longer in use and had been scrapped. Where can I set that only the actually active devices without SnowAgent installation are counted as not inventoried?

  • If you view the data behind the widget you'll see that it will display a source column. Filter the data via selecting Inventoried = No in the last column as well.

Then order by the Last discovered date.

Are the bulk of these 2022 devices coming from the Virtual Management Option source? if so this will be as that usually has a deletion date range of 365 days or more.

  • Hi Siggi,

yes, the Snow Quarantine Management (30 + 60 Days) is set up and activated. It works perfectly for all inventoried computers. The problem only occurs with non-inventoried computers.

    Kind regards

    Tobias

    Hello TNehring,

has the Snow Quarantine Management been set up and activated? In SMACC you can configure the appropriate settings so that, for example, computers that have not reported for x days are removed.

    Regards Siggi

    Hi Tobias,

ok. You mean devices which are displayed with the "Discovered assets that are not inventoried" report? A discovered device cannot be automatically deleted in Inventory. It will remain visible on the Discovery page until either an Inventory agent has been deployed to it, or it is manually deleted in the Admin Console. See Snow Documentation -> Discovery view (snowsoftware.com) Hopefully this help.

    Regards Siggi

  • Thank you Joseph Powell. Yes, the majority of these devices come from the VMO source. Where are the 365 days set? Is it the setting in SMACC "DCC_AUTODISCONNECT_DAYS"? Thanks so much for your help.

    • This is the setting - depending on your needs you could reduce this down to the usual 90 day period to match best practice settings for Quarantine management.

i.e. only ever keep 3 month / 90 days worth of metering data.
