Explanation of SLM SMACC configuration: METERING_HISTORY_CLEANUP
METERING_HISTORY_CLEANUP Clear the metering history in Snow Inventory. All metering data older than the number of months specified by METERING_HISTORY_MONTHS is removed from the Snow Inventory database. Older statistics etc. are still available in SLM.
- What is covered in the definition of "metering data" -> is it all software applications data?
- Are the "statistics" visible in SLM (the web application) even though it's removed from the inventory database?
- How is this data cleaned up from the SLM database?

Hi Dennis,
This setting deals with data in the tblMetering and inv.DataMetering tables as far as I understand.
Metering data is the record of start and stop time of running a given executable file.
For that reason, those tables can get extremely big (our table has 100+ million rows)
When you remove metering data that affects the data you see in the "Applications per User" type of reports, the "Users" tab on each application and some license requirements especially if those are "per User" or "per Device" based on continuous monitoring (your monitoring period has to be compatible with the amount of data you keep):
It does not affect the detection of applications (apart from very specific and usually rare cases where detection is triggered by usage only like when an application is run from a folder that is not scanned by the agent)
