  1. IT Visibility: Full Transparency into File Evidence UI

Software Evidence UI has been enhanced to display all file evidence collected from your environment, giving you a complete view of your discovery data.

    What's New?

File evidence is now grouped into three categories:

    • Active (Technopedia Mapped): Recognized and mapped to a known software product.
    • Unrecognized: Collected but not currently mapped to Technopedia.
    • Irrelevant: Excluded from recognition of workflows.
    • A supporting Irrelevant Reason column is now available in both the UI and CSV exports.

These categories are visible in Devices (Inventory > IT Visibility Devices > Devices > File Evidence tab) and Software Evidence (Applications & Evidence > IT Visibility Software > Software Evidence > File Evidence tab)

    How the UI Works

    • File evidence is pre-filtered to Active by default. Unrecognized or Irrelevant evidence can be selected as required.
    • Summary counts at the top of the page reflect only Active (Technopedia Mapped) file evidence, so your existing recognition metrics remain unchanged. See more details below in Understanding File Evidence Recognition

    Understanding File Evidence Recognition

File evidence is a supplementary data source in IT Visibility, useful for validating executables, troubleshooting, and supporting investigative workflows. It is not the primary path for software recognition, which is driven by installer-based evidence and Technopedia normalization. As a result, a large volume of unmapped file evidence is expected and does not indicate a recognition issue. The new categorization simply provides greater visibility into your raw file evidence data.

  2. IT Visibility – Evidence & Devices Enhancements

We’re excited to share a set of enhancements to the IT Visibility Devices experience, designed to give you greater transparency into the evidence behind your inventory and software data.

These updates make it easier to understand how device and software information is discovered by surfacing additional evidence types directly within the UI.

    With these enhancements, you can:

    • Gain clearer insight into device-level hardware and software evidence
    • Better understand how inventory and software data is derived
    • Improve confidence in IT Visibility data through increased transparency

    What’s New

    1.Discovered Hardware Evidence per Device

You can now view Discovered Hardware Evidence directly on each device.

    Where to find it

Inventory → IT Visibility → Devices → Hardware Evidences

    Why this matters

    • See the hardware evidence associated with a specific device in one place
    • Better understand how device hardware details are discovered and represented

2.Expanded Software Evidence on the Devices Page

Previously, the Devices page showed only Installer Evidence for software. We’ve now expanded this view to provide a more complete picture.

New evidence tabs available per device:

    • Software Evidence - File : Displays file evidence details for the selected device, enabling you to view and analyze file information associated with the device.
    • Software Evidence - OS : Displays operating system evidence details for the selected device, providing insights into the operating systems installed on the device.

    Where to find it

Inventory → IT Visibility → Devices

    Why this matters

    • Get a more comprehensive view of how software presence is detected on devices
    • Improved visibility into software evidence beyond installers alone

    3.Richer OS Evidence Details

We’ve enhanced OS evidence information across the IT Visibility UI and APIs to include:

    • Caption
    • CSD Version

    Where to find it

Inventory → IT Visibility → Devices → Software Evidence - OS

Applications & Evidence → IT Visibility Software → Software Evidence → OS Evidence

    Why this matters:

    • More detailed OS context for analysis and reporting
    • Improved consistency between UI and API data

These enhancements are part of our ongoing effort to improve transparency, trust, and usability across IT Visibility.

  3. Enhanced IT Visibility Software Evidence UI Experience with Installer, File, and Operating System Evidence

We’re thrilled to introduce a new tabbed experience on the IT Visibility Software Evidence page (Applications & Evidence > IT Visibility Software > Software Evidence), designed to give you richer, more organized insights into your software inventory.

With this update, you can seamlessly navigate between three evidence types:

    • Installer Evidence (default view): Displays All, Active, Irrelevant, and Unrecognized evidence counts, now including Installation Path details.

    Installer Evidence

    • File Evidence: Shows All and Active (Technopedia Mapped) evidence counts directly in the UI.

    File evidence

    • OS Evidence: Includes All, Active (Technopedia Mapped), and Unrecognized evidence counts for a comprehensive OS overview.

    OS evidence

This enhancement empowers you to filter, track, and manage evidence data with greater clarity and control, bringing full transparency to your software inventory. Installation paths for installer evidence, OS evidence, and recognized file evidence are now available directly within the UI, reducing manual effort and reliance on external queries.

Note: OS and File Evidence are now available on the Software Evidence page and will be extended to Devices, Inventory Normalization Insights, and Private Catalog in future updates. Support for irrelevant evidence will also be added in an upcoming release. Please note that the Software Evidence dataset accessible via the Queries API and Data Exports currently includes only Installer Evidence and does not contain OS or File Evidence.

You may notice changes in Active counts in evidence as we continue to improve and streamline the underlying behavior for greater accuracy and consistency.

This update ensures a complete, accurate, and trusted view of your software environment, enabling better lifecycle management, compliance, and risk decision-making in one place.

  4. Update in IT Visibility Evidence UI

We are excited to announce an upgrade to the Evidence UI in IT Visibility on March 26th!

As part of this improvement, the Evidence UI has been upgraded to Technology Intelligence Platform. This means the existing evidence view will now pull data from the Lakehouse, offering more accurate and up-to-date information compared to legacy IT Visibility.

This upgrade ensures that evidence data is updated at the same rate as inventory, providing consistent results across relevant datasets. As a result, some customers may notice updated evidence counts in the following areas:

    • Inventory > Hardware Evidence
    • Applications & Evidence > Software Evidence
    • Inventory > Devices

    Why have evidence results changed?

    • Recognized records are now showing under their correct product, model, and manufacturer categories, and are no longer included in the count of unrecognized records
    • Bug that caused orphaned records to contribute to the counts has been resolved.

With the IT Visibility Evidence UI powered by the Technology Intelligence Platform, you can expect more accurate and up-to-date data, leading to an improved experience. Additionally, the results will now be consistent with IT Visibility Power BI Reporting.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to bringing you even more improvements!
