  2. Display Full Version in “Applications per Computer” Report

We have improved the “Applications per Computer” report in SAM on Snow Atlas to include the full version of each software application. This improvement supports more accurate license tracking, helps detect vulnerabilities tied to specific versions, and strengthens compliance with vendor contracts.

    Important Notes:

    1. The full version column is only supported for individual Applications and is now live in production(available in the column selector)
    2. Application groups and application bundles are not included, since their versions originate from multiple applications. Work in progress to assess getting the full version for Groups.

    • Unfortunately, this does not work for e.g. the Windows operating system itself.

How hard can it be to have the full number? e.g.

      cmd.exe /c ver

Important Notice: Report Updates Due to Data Model Maintenance

    Maintenance Dated: 02/03/2025

With the recent Reporting enhancement on Many to Many Join performance issues, few adjustments were made to the Data model.

    1. No OOTB Report is impacted with this change
    2. If a custom report is created with fields from the below tables without a measure in their visuals, such visuals would start failing. #Devices for Hardware and #Installs from Software can be used in the visuals or tables to resolve the issue.

    Hardware

    Device Processor

    Device Business Service

    Device Network Adapter

    Device Context

    Software

    Software Context

    Device Context

    Software File Evidence

    Software Installer Evidence

    Note:

For any aggregations, It is recommended to use the Measures that already exist in the model as they are tweaked to be performant instead of aggregating data manually at a column level. If there are no aggregated measure in the visual, it is best to use #Devices for Hardware and #Installs from Software for the visual to be performant.

    • So, is it no longer possible to join Software Device to Softwrae File Evidence or Software Installer Evidence? It can be done via the API but it doesn't seem like it's possible in PowerBI any longer after this change. Being able to do this helps us drill down on specific devices to see what file/installer evidence was discovered.

In the current setup there's no way to see what evidence is paired to the device.
