In a recent conversation with our Flexera account rep. I'm fairly sure that it was stated the the Categories and Software categories used for software were from a NIST standard. I would like to know which standard if anyone knows?

The reason I ask is that we would like to make use of the the same categorization in our procurement system. I cannot see the full category list within IT Visibility or FNMS because it only shows me the categories for the software I already have. Not the full potential list of categories.
