Is there a way to associate an assignment rule based on a Custom field created or other that is pulled into Snow to associate or what is best practice here?
The ability to associate devices to an Org structure is quite limited and logically many of the options no client would use i.e.
IP Address - hybrid working
Client Site Name - Associated to the Snow Agent site
Bios - serial number -> the most drunk of the options.
We are importing in a custom field to associate the geographical location as this seems the more feasible way of an Org assignment. Can this be utilised?
You could use environmental variables. I have seen this done via a GPO setting one on a local machine based on the machine objects place in their AD structure (they had a nice geographic OU based AD)
This is then used in the auto connect rule to place it in the geographical organisation structure setup in SLM's SMACC.
