Are there risks associated with udpating SLM?

I would like to know if any risks exist when an on-prem customer would upgrade SLM from their current Version 9.26 to a newer (v9.29) or newest version (9.31) ?

Any update should also fit in to the customer Change Management processes as well as the items Detlev mentions - snaps shots of servers and good DB backups etc.
