Agent Data not transfering from Inventory -> License Manager

Hello,

we were able to do a trial run of the migration (Inventory 3->5 & SLM 7->8) thanks to the documentation and the amazing help from the Snow Support.

Now it seems like we are facing one last issue:

The newly acquired Inventory Data (Agents) do not get transfered from the Snow Inventory to the SLM (even after a Data Update Job). The Data seems to get transfered to the Inventory just fine (pops up right away after forcing a scan), yet in the end it doesn't appear in the License Manager itself. This was tested for a device that was already previously included in the Snow License Manager and a new device as well.

Are there any log files related to this? The Data Update job seems to run through just fine.

Note : We are running on Test Licenses (Under 50 Agents). While our Inventory has under 50 Agents for testing purposes, there are alot of old entries from our imported SLM database on the License Manager Website itself. Could this be a licensing issue due to the fact that SLM detects alot of old entries (that are not in use) ?

  Hello Airi, if i recall correctly - it was actually due to the licenses/test licenses exceeding the maximum allowed user/device count (license wise) in SLM. To test if that was actually the case, i deleted most of the recorded devices/computers in SLM (so SLM has free user licenses again) and did another rescan. Devices got transfered correctly afterwards.

    Hi Marcel1, could you please run the following queries against the databases: select * from [ SnowInventory] . [ inv] . [ DataClientView2] select * from [ SnowLicenseManager] . [ dbo] . [ tblComputer] ‍ ‍ Both queries should return the same amount of devices. What are you seeing? /marcel²

    Hello, Inventory : 46 Devices (+2 Newly scanned) License Manager : 205 the number is different due to the fact that i only imported 44 devices (out of 205) from our production inventory DB using the extract tool to test the migration. Reason is that the test licenses we received were for up to 50 agents only and i was trying to avoid license errors as much as possible. Could that be the issue?

    Hi, i followed the migration documentation, i just didn't transfer all of the devices : Exported using the Snow Inventory Data Exporter (44 out of 205 Devices) Installed Inventory 5 Followed the process in the wizard to migrate the exported Inventory

    Hi Marcel, I would like to see what the Data Update Job does and whether it works correctly. Could you please perform the following: Fire the query select * from followed by the table name against the database SnowLicenseManager. Paste/Export the results to an Excel file. tblJobLog Contains the log of the last Data Update Job. tblJobLogHistory Contains the results of previous Data Update Jobs. tblJobLogMetrics Contains meta data for a number of completed Jobs. (table sizes, number of computers, number of users and so on.) tblErrorLog Contains data about the errors within the Data Update Job Feel free to send the results xls file to me via email. /marcel
