Hi all,
Looking for some advice on how to reduce the runtime of the full ruleset DUJ... or at the very least understand why it is taking so long
I've been supporting a large SLM 9.9.1 environment (approx 150,000) inventoried machines and the weekly full rule set duration has steadily increased over the last 6-8 months from around 25 hours to almost 50.
The daily DUJ has been consistent the whole time averaging 6.5 hours.
I can't quite figure out why the full rule set would double in duration.
I wondered if perhaps the full rule set re-applied rules to archived machines as this is one area that grows daily.
We had also issues with long Full Ruleset DUJs with earlier versions of SLM.
Newer versions have a much better garbage collection routine and full DUJs have gone back to reasonable times.
Any reason why you would need to stay on version 9.9?
I second Samuel's comment, being on 9.9.1 definitely isn't going to help - for a 150,000 device environment you're still going to have a pretty long ruleset DUJ because of the amount of data it's churning through, but it does get a bit faster in the newer versions.
Worth noting as well, you don't need to run it every week. I think the recommendation was to only run it when required/if support say to run it. It runs through every single application again so it does tend to take a lot longer.
