Hi Kieran,

beside Jelle's information, let me add some remarks from an enduser perspective.

Please forget things like "quick start" or "let's import all the license information on the fly". This is not gonna work.

Prepare for weeks and months of gathering data and information.

Of course, you can reach out to your software vendor and perhaps get a list of all your purchases. But this will be only the start of your journey.

Beside the fact, that this (massively depending on how you purchase software) can give you an endless list of single-license purchases, it will not provide all the information that is required.

For example:

You add all purchases from your new Microsoft EA to Snow License Manager.

A lot of these positions will be Software Assurance renewals as you purchased the licenses in one of your former EAs. As you enter the SKU from the invoice, SLM marks this license as an "upgrade license". This license will be incomplete until you assign the correct bas license, where you upgraded from.

But perhaps, this "base license" was also an upgrade from an earlier purchase, so you'll have to get the base license fort this one as well. And so on...

The request for an efficient start is:

Identify the vendor with the highes risk (anticipated audit, investment volume, number of installations) and start there.

Usually, this will be Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Oracle, depending on your environment.
