  • I can't see the report that you refer to. The only report is "Discovered assets that are not inventoried".

Where do you see this report?

  • We have something similar where devices are marked as not Inventoried in the SLM 'All devices' list while they are shown in the SLM list of 'Search for computers'. So there is an inconsistency too. I created a case (04485609) for this last May but it's still open...

  • @Gert-Jan Kosterman I currently have a similar situation in combination with the SCCM connector not populating the "IsVirtual" and "HostComputerName" fields in the database.

If you modify the computer record in the SLM database, update "IsVirtual" to 1 and set the HostComputerName, SLM will properly show these devices as

inventoried. The information will be overwritten with the next DUJ, of course.

I also have a ticket open regarding this behaviour.

    • @Axel Lamparth thanks for the tip. But I think I'll wait for Snow to fix this since I rather stay away from modifying the database(s) myself as much as possible 😉

      • @Gert-Jan Kosterman ðŸ˜‰ It was just a test to verify the root cause

    • I am also using the SCCM connector. So that tracks with what you are seeing also.

  • I have checked an INV file and can confirm, that the "IsVirtual" flag is set to 0, while HostMachine and Model show that this is a Virtual Machine (Hyper-V in this case).

It appears to me, that there have been some changes since Snow Inventory 6.5 in how the system handles recognition of virtual machines.

In an older version of the Snow Inventory Server user guide, there was a section called "Customizable processing logic".

This section describes a "DataProcessorRules.xml" that can be placed into the Snow Inventory server directory.

Recognition of virtual machines is listed there as an example.

Interestingly, the "IsVirtual" Flag is not listed as an input parameter at all.

    I'll keep you posted.

How does SNOW get devices to populate the report, "In AD not in SNOW"?
