M Wrbsky asked a question.
I currently have SLM installed on-prem. We are looking to move our SLM servers to AWS or, if it's an option, access SLM via SaaS. Does anyone know if SLM (and Snow AP for that matter) is available via SaaS? If not, I will next ask about AWS migration.
Don't know if that will fulfill your requirements, but have you already checked for Snow Atlas? Was introduced recently .
Snow Software Introduces Snow Atlas | Snow Software
This is very helpful, thank you for steering me in this direction.
Just as an fyi: not all functionality which you have available on prem will be available in Snow Atlas. That's why we decided to stay on prem for now. Please check with you account manager which functionality will be available now, which will follow and which will never become available.
Regarding Snow AP: what ssoftware deployment tool do you use?
I'd say hosting a Snow AP server will be not the issue, as the workflows run on the server and it basically requires access to the database. But when it comes to installing and uninstalling software, you usually need direct access to your AD.
As mentioned above, SLM is now being offered as a SaaS solution (called Atlas). AP howewer does not currently integrate with Atlas.
AP itself can be hosted on a VM in the cloud but it will need to have access to your on-prem AD. Currently, there are tests being done to use Azure Active Directory Domain Services that could potentially mean that the on-prem AD requirement could be removed.
We are still going to continue using on-prem SLM 25 and would like to know if its compatible with Azure SQL PaaS.
SLM is not compatible with Azure SQL PaaS because a SQL agent on the SQL server is required to run SLM.
