Can SLM/Inventory identify an RDS server based on whether it is in the RDS role?

Hi Folks,

Wondering if someone can confirm whether role based identification is possible or whether the agent setting (env.is_virtual_desktop_infrastructure=true) is required for both remote desktop servers and virtual desktops?

Also, I presume the trigger that would have an application flagged as ts- when launched is a computer accessing a device that is in the above role?

Thanks in advance.

  • You can store the role identification for a server by using custom fields.

Those roles can be fed in manually or automatically using the Snow Web Configurator to import a file containing this info.

Just in case your question is about assigning RDS CALs, note that the RDS role does not need to be on to require an RDS CAL. According to the terms of use, any access to a UI (it does not even have to be Windows, it could be Linux) hosted on a Windows Server requires an RDS CAL, whatever config or method is used.
