AWS Host Relationship
Hey,
How do you guys do host relationships for AWS in Snow, since the AWS Discovery Connector doesn't do it?
Thanks

Hi @Laim McKenzie ,
Snow Inventory Agent for Windows brings back the platform it is running on, e. g. AWS or Azure. Look for Computer Model "Elastic Cloud 2" for AWS or "Azure" for Microsoft Azure.

So just for clarification, there is no connector (like vSphere) that does the host relationship for AWS? So you can't see the host of a machine in Snow, only the platform etc. it's running?
Hi @Laim McKenzie ,
Snow Commander eventually can help on the task. Maybe we just need to understand your business and use case where you like to use this information?
A specific scenario here could be that the base OS platform is licensed directly via Amazon and therefore charging and compliance is taken care of, however in the application layer the customer might operate a bring their own licence model which could require it to be licensed at a physical host level, if this is the case how is the association made in Snow?
Hi @Patrick Craven ,
I suggest to use dynamic compliance exclusion to exclude the machines already covered by AWS etc.
BR Michael
Hi Michael, not sure I follow how a dynamic compliance exclusion would give the AWS guest/host relationship which would be needed in the scenario?
Hi @Patrick Craven ,
I assumed with the request "base OS platform is licensed directly via Amazon" you are looking into the AWS BYOL model for Windows server, is my assumption correct?
