Mike777 asked a question.
I want to produce reporting on application usage (and, concordantly, spend) across multiple departments in my organisation. My user information as displayed in the SLM ‘Users’ menu derives from the inventory agent scan of each device (with some WMIC and PowerShell queries to pull the current logged in user at each scan time). Thus, the information captured is basic – only name, email, and high level organisation info.
Can you please advise how to capture second level organisational detail on our users department, location etc? Can this be done by configuring the Active Directory connector (which we don’t at present use)? Or by some other method?
The AD connector is used mainly within the M365 part of SLM.
If you want to add additional user information that the agent will never find such as additional AD attributes not held locally within a users profile you'll need an import of that data.
You can create additional custom fields if needed but then use the Update User menu under the Home - Import Data option.
You can also do this on a timed based if you use the Import function of the Web Configurator on the SLM server.
I would add there are other ways to do it but these would be the quickest.
